Dear God, What Have I Done?

March 18, 2008
My oldest son will be in the high school marching band next year. In April 2009 the band goes to Disney World for five days.

I've agreed--and signed up, and already put money down--to go along as a chaperone.

Five days chaperoning teenagers at Disney World.

Shoot me now.

I think I'm the one with the green hat.

Cheers,
Mark Terry

You are brave! I'm sure the teens will take off on their own as quick as they can, so you'll probably get quite a bit of peace. :-)

I sure don't know who chaperoned our band trip, LOL!

The band director last night noted that this particular trip was pretty easy from a chaperone point of view, noting that once in the parks themselves, the kids were on their own. Airports were the tricky part.

They do big trips about every 2 years, alternating between Disney World and New York City. As he noted last night, New York City tends to be kind of stressful for the chaperones because you're pretty much with the kids 24/7. (Maybe my wife gets to do that one--:))

As a former band parent (8 years!) I can only say--
hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha...

At least it will be better then the time our band directer booked us into Virginia Beach during a biker's convention. Imagine all those teenagers surrounded by bikers! The kids loved it and the chaperone's slept in the hallways.
Not too bright on the band director's part but we found out later he was "involved" with a student. I think he planned the time and place for this reason.)

Dude:
You will be like . . . chaperoning a bus full of Demon Babies now grown and playing instruments.

Brave.

Or stupid.

Or Dad of the year.

I'm still deciding. LOL! (But I think it's the last one.)
